K-O CONFERENCE HISTORY
We are a Conference with diverse and dynamic congregations. Some of our member congregations were established in the 1800s, before either Kansas or Oklahoma became states, while others are newly formed.
We are a multi-racial and multi-ethnic Conference embracing congregations from American Samoa, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, as well as Pentecostal and European traditions. A number of congregations have identified themselves as Open and Affirming (welcoming persons of all sexual orientations).
Together we bear witness to the teaching of Scripture. We affirm that Christ has broken down the dividing wall (Ephesians 2:14). We are guided by the prayer of Jesus, "that they all may be one" (Gospel of John 17:21). This prayer is the motto of the United Church of Christ.
